Providence Health & Services Mental Health Specialist - Adolescent in Missoula, Montana

Description:

Providence is calling a Mental Health Specialist (Mental Health - Adolescent, Evening Shift, 0.5 FTE) to Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Continuously monitor all patients. Provide structure and safety by setting limits and developing therapeutic rapport with the patients. Make ongoing observation of patients' behavior and assisting in crisis management. Work under the guidance of Clinical Social Worker, and/or Charge Nurse. Provide patient care as directed. Participate in community meeting and other groups as assigned.

  • Complete risk assessments. Make appropriate crisis interventions. Initiate appropriate interventions. Document crisis response and the actions taken. Communicate observations to the multi-disciplinary treatment team regarding patient condition and behavior or an unusual reaction of the patient.

  • Provide input to treatment team regarding identification of clinical problems for individual patients. Assist in problem solving and management of the milieu. Participate in team approach to patient care. Establishes positive working relationships and role models healthy communication skills.

  • Answer phones, screen visitors, knowledge of word processing and data entry.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.

  • Must have knowledge of mental health issues, both theory and practice; crisis intervention techniques; assessment techniques; understanding of family systems dynamics; and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Must have strong crisis intervention, assessment, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 1 year previous experience working in an inpatient or outpatient setting with the mentally ill.
