Providence Health & Services Medical Assistant Certified - Clinical Support Services in Missoula, Montana
Providence is calling a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) ( PMG Clinical Support Services , Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Medical Group in Missoula, Montana. In this position you will:
Assist the providers in office procedures including EKG’s.
Clean and maintain exam rooms.
Take emergency action when required.
Help cover other provider practices as needed to provide patient care. Look at office practice collectively rather than individually.
Collect data regarding patient/family learning needs, abilities, preferences and readiness to learn.
Obtain and record height and weight per provider preference.
Complete accurate vital signs. Complete delegated patient care activities and records and reports variations.
Consistently receive and give suggestions and constructive criticism in a professional manner.
Contribute to the assessment of the patient by collecting information for an analysis by the physician or PA.
Demonstrate the ability to function as a member/leader of Interdisciplinary care delivery team.
Perform phlebotomy lab draws per provider orders.
Discuss with patients and/or family member medications, treatment instructions and follow-up management.
Process prescription refills in timely fashion as directed by provider.
Promptly connect referring provider to IHI providers via phone transfer or takes and delivers messages quickly, professionally and appropriately.
Provide patient education with clear, concise, and positive approach.
Screen and triage patient phone calls re: concerns and symptoms. Follow up with provider or provider on call depending on urgency of need. Return call to the patient promptly with plan of care.
Take patient histories/assessments, vital signs, fills out the medication flow sheet, assesses medication allergies/adverse reactions and anticipates the needs for that patients visit.
Make sure records are complete and reviewed before patient sees provider.
Work independently with providers to maintain timely flow of patients through the office.
Facilitate and coordinate scheduling of cath lab procedures. Utilize critical thinking skills in screening CVL patients in re: to medical history, labs, medications and communicate with provider when appropriate.
Provider pre-procedure patient education.
Help to identify and track patients taking Amiodarone and enter data into Amiodarone data base.
Document patient phone calls, provider directions and plan of care, phone call attempts, etc.
Utilize a collaborative interdisciplinary process to provide appropriate patient/family education.
Report and document any unusual patient or administrative occurrence that may have an effect on the patient’s and/or staff’s well being.
Evaluate care provided by subordinates and directs them in an appropriate fashion.
Provide clear, concise and pertinent direction to care team.
Serve as a preceptor for new staff.
Assure correct ICD-9 diagnostic/HCPCS/CPT coding is used to transcribe patient diagnosis, procedures, services and supplies.
Maintain patient files, record and other information. Send charts to posting with dictation, test results, patient reports and correspondence in an organized fashion.
Oversee appointment bookings and assists with scheduling and re-scheduling of patient appointments, referrals, tests, treatments, preauthorization of services and hospital services.
Process patient charges according to SPH coding and reimbursement policies.
Receive, transcribe, verify and carry out physician orders accurately and timely.
Transcribe appropriate coding for Medicare billing and reimbursement.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of RMA or CMA program.
Active MA Certification through one of the nationally recognized MA programs: AAMA, AMCA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NAHP; OR graduate of schools for MA diploma/certificate from the military in Medical Specialist Course.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (Healthcare Provider) upon hire.
Ability to communicate effectively with patient, families, physicians and other health care team members.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- One (1) year experience in a physician office.
