The Electrophysiology Technologist (EPT) is a cardiovascular or radiologic technologist who has completed competencies identified in the Cardiovascular Technologist orientation. The EPT will perform through the utilization of specialized equipment, under the direction of a qualified physician, procedures that include fluoroscopy and digital image capture resulting in the accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart arrhythmias while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort.
The EPT evaluates patient response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers during Electrophysiology and Cardiovascular laboratory procedures. The EPT is proficient in basic cardiac life support, as well as the operation and maintenance (as specified by the manufacturer) of all diagnostic and therapeutic EP equipment, used for procedures. Adapts procedures to meet individual patient needs of adolescents (ages 13-17) and adult patients including early adult (ages 18-35) middle adult (ages 36-65) and older adult (ages 66+) patients for treatment and selects equipment/supplies considering patient's age, size, pre-existing conditions and procedures to be performed
Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular or Radiographic technology
2 years Experience in a cardiovascular laboratory.
