Providence Health & Services ECHO Cardiographer in Missoula, Montana

Description:

Providence is calling a ECHO Cardiographer (Dept, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Assists in transport and movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, carts and ultrasound tables.

  • Completes all add on exams the day requested if possible.

  • Completes all paperwork on patient before going on to next patient.

  • Completes all worksheets for Cardiologists.

  • Confirms patient ID verbally and/or by ID band.

  • Consults as appropriate to determine clinical information required from exam and plans and carries out exam accordingly.

  • Educates patients about their procedures and clarifies any concerns or questions they may have.

  • Explains procedure to patient and family and answers questions about procedures.

  • Gives call light to all patients when left alone and carries Wescom pager after hours.

  • Greets patient, introduces self, describes nature and time requirements of exam.

  • Monitors vital signs and physical and mental status of patients and notifies nursing and/or cardiologist as appropriate.

  • Positions patients correctly so as to visualize all aspects of structures being imaged.

  • Protects patient, self and staff from physical injury throughout procedures, during transfer and during transport to and from department.

  • Recognizes arrests, call codes and administers first aid/CPR.

  • Respects patient privacy. Keeps curtain closed and keeps patient covered

  • Reviews finished exams as necessary for acceptable diagnostic quality.

  • Selects correct imaging protocols and equipment and sets factors to obtain maximum quality images based on patient habitus, symptoms and pathology.

  • Signs ED patients out and back in, in the ED chart.

  • Strives to do all inpatient NPO exams in the morning.

  • Talks to, or has someone talk to, the patient if unable to do outpatient exam within 10 minutes of arrival.

  • Transports patient to department and returns to room after procedure.

  • Cleans US machine filters as needed.

  • Empties dirty linen daily.

  • Wipes down machines as needed.

  • Correctly labels and dates all exams.

  • Enters all required documentation in patient’s medical record.

  • Organizes, plans and directs procedures and coordinates with other areas.

  • Performs all clerical duties.

  • Reassesses priorities several times a day.

  • Reviews and restocks department inventory.

  • Reviews requisitions and charts for orders and specific instructions.

  • Turns the full jacket with history information and reports in to reading cardiologist.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must have successfully completed a formal training program or equivalent in Echocardiography and demonstrate ability to complete competency in Echocardiography.

  • ARDMS or equivalent or eligibility within 1 year.

  • Current Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (Healthcare Provider) upon hire.
