Providence Health & Services Coder, Physician Billing, Telecommute in Missoula, Montana
Providence is calling a Coder, Physician Billing to Providence Health & Services in Portland, OR.
The Physician Billing Coder an experienced production coder validating appropriate coding for physician services. This includes analyzing/abstracting and correcting billing errors due to incorrect use of codes or charges through CPT/HCPC, ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 additions/deletions/revisions. Identifies and communicates areas for improvement for providers, clinical departments and cross-functional revenue cycle departments.
In this position you will:
Identify areas of improvement for providers to educate and revise billing practices with outpatient/inpatient primary care and some specialty care; and/or hospital professional charges in order to achieve maximum reimbursement
Validate appropriate coding for physician services. This includes analyzing and correcting billing errors due to incorrect use of codes or charges through CPT/HCPC, ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 additions/deletions/revisions
Provide support for the physician business office on billing problems that delay payment due to coding or incorrect use of charges
Research denial of payment due to incorrect use of codes, the lack of codes or inappropriate charges to assure supporting documentation is present for resubmission of the corrected claim
Work closely with supervisors and trainers to identify and escalate trends to Physician Business Office leadership
Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts to streamline workflows to maximize the team’s effectiveness and efficiency
Required qualification for this position include:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent
One (1) year experience in a healthcare/clinic setting with reimbursement knowledge
Certification in one of the following: CRT, ART, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P and/or ACS-EM or other qualifying certification
Preferred qualification for this position include:
- One (1) year coding experience
