Members of the Projects & Consulting team play a critical role in supporting the implementation of new technologies across the Providence enterprise to positively impact patient care, improve caregiver workflow efficiencies, and achieve organizational goals. The Project & Consulting team Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) utilizes standard tools and methodologies, critical thinking, problem solving, and organization skills; clinical experience and knowledge of Epic EHR to facilitate successful collaboration and implementations through clinical workflows documentation, achieving key project milestones, and go-live support. We are seeking a Clinical Informatics Specialist - Projects & Consulting - Implementations & Stabilization to:
Serve as a professional role model in promoting the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in healthcare settings
Act as a liaison between clinical care and information technology, supporting all care givers throughout the care continuum in the implementation, learning, use, adoption and optimization of clinical technologies
Support the analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, optimization and maintenance of clinical information applications and projects within the assigned ministry/area
Develop team participation skills delivered in a complex, highly stressful environment
Use skills in clinical information sciences, and fundamentals of project and change management
Use comprehensive understanding of clinical process and practice standards, patient flow and operational processes through Clinical Informatics Specialist licensure in a clinical discipline (e.g. nursing, respiratory therapy, etc.)
Demonstrate competencies in line with the core values that are the foundation of all activities performed by caregivers in order to achieve the Mission of the Providence System.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Ensures that workflow and training knowledge delivered is consistent with and accurately reflects current national informatics and adult learning standards
Communicates technology changes, upgrades, and downtimes to clinical customers
Conducts workflow analysis to improve efficient, reliable use of the clinical information systems
Develops and maintains established standard of work and system design
Responds and assists customers immediately upon request and follows up on previous interactions to ensure issue resolution, escalation or issue closure with as appropriate considering the dynamic nature of information systems and system priorities
Able to effectively communicate to clinical customers and is perceived as approachable and reliable
Demonstrates effective interactions and positive interpersonal skills in dealing with others in order to maximize productivity and positive employee relations
Actively and efficiently engages with key leaders, teams and subject matter experts to collaborate on and influence the design and development of projects, curriculum and workflows, and the integration of technology into patient care processes
- Promotes highest attainable quality in the full life cycle of Clinical Information Systems.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current evidence, projects, meetings and workshops
Frequently updates knowledge regarding health care and informatics trends, adult learning methodology, and issues and actively seeks opportunities to apply this knowledge to practice
Moderate travel among regional facilities and occasional travel among Providence entitiesis required.
Employee may be required to work on-call, after hours and variable shifts and weekends to meet client needs.
Reliable transportation throughout the region is required
Job Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations; live, via online or virtual mediums
Ability to effectively build relationships with customers, executive management, and other stakeholders through positive interaction and problem identification and resolution
Broad knowledge and understanding of the trends and changes taking place in health care
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and to organize workload to ensure that timeframes are met and the work is successfully completed within deadlines
Working knowledge of desktop software applications (e.g., MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Internet, Email)
Ability to work in a fast pace complex working environment
The CIS with licensure in nursing brings required comprehensive understanding of clinical process and practice standards, patient flow and operational processes
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical discipline, Information Technology, Informatics, Business, Education, Management, Communications, Related Field -OR- a combination of relevant education and experience
2 years of experience in a position that has the same or similar primary duties working with a clinical information system within a healthcare setting
Experience with EHR systems
Experience with benefits and challenges of adult learning
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Adequate home office environment (company computer equipment provided)
Travel for onsite project work (up to 50%) with advanced notice
Active license or certification to practice as a clinician, as applicable (MD, RN, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, Clinical Social Worker, Respiratory Therapist, etc.)
Informatics certifications or credentialing and may be equivalent for up to 2 years’ experience for this position at the hiring manager’s discretion
If a Registered Nurse, active license as an RN by the affiliated State Board of Nursing where this position exists
