Providence is calling a Clinical Informatics Sr. Virtual Educator to Providence Health & Services in Torrance, CA.

We are seeking a Clinical Informatics Sr. Virtual Educator to promote virtual training, adult learning methodology, technology, and tool integration. The Sr. Virtual Educator acts as a liaison between the Curriculum, Design and Review Teams, Clinical Informaticists and Instructional Designers, leading staff members through the implementation, use and optimization of virtual training.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Education/Coaching: In collaboration with the Training Operations Team and the Regions, analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of the Virtual Training and other innovative methods, classes and content. Collaborates with Instructional Designers and Clinical Informatics Specialists to provide interventions and/or adjustments to curriculum delivery and content. Effectively implements training programs including student evaluations. Ensures that core curriculum and training knowledge delivered is consistent with and accurately reflects organization and industry standards. Coaches, mentors, and provides support for team members of the virtual team in gaining and maintaining competency in use of the EHR and virtual tools. Able to show empathy and connect with others without judgment or a personal agenda.

  • Problem Solving: Strong attention to detail and outstanding analytical skills. Mentors others with the facilitation of online classroom technology. Expert in the diagnosis of technology issues and able to resolve or facilitate resolution efficiently and effectively. Anticipates problems and takes corrective action prior to completing the task. Identifies, analyzes, prioritizes, evaluates and implements improvements to existing virtual training delivery classes and tools. Partners with Training Operations and the Regions to lead improvements in the delivery of virtual classes. Makes recommendations on delivery and innovative solutions to improve consumer consumption. Breakdowns organizational boundaries to create a more open culture.

  • Customer Service: Demonstrates skill at managing remote students, recognizing learning blocks quickly and taking action to remediate. Responds and assists learners and peers immediately upon request during a virtual training session. Demonstratives persuasive communication techniques, listens and is approachable, models others. Mentors others with balancing multiple projects, schedules, demand and to meet shifting priorities. Consistently demonstrates outstanding skills in listening, developing understanding, and supporting the needs of others in a sensitive manner. Anticipates customer needs and takes personal responsibility for customer satisfaction. Able to effectively communicate to clinical customers and is perceived as an expert in teaching, supporting and empowering the customer. Is a change agent, assisting customers with the dynamic nature of the EHR and virtual training tools.

  • Teamwork: Demonstrates effective interactions and positive interpersonal skills in dealing with others in order to maximize productivity and positive employee relations. Actively engages with other groups to collaborate on and influence the design and development of projects, curriculum and workflows. Partners with key leaders and subject matter experts in relevant programs and services to efficiently integrate technology into training. Leads discussions and initiatives with teams across the system to optimize resources, share expertise and improve efficiencies within virtual training delivery. Demonstrated management skills and ability to work effectively to build relationships with colleagues, customers, and executive management through positive interaction. Manages and integrates groups of diverse disciplines in collaborative activities by acting as a key liaison and facilitating cross-function communication.

  • Professional Development: Frequently updates knowledge regarding health care trends, adult learning methodology and issues and actively seeks opportunities to apply this knowledge to practice. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, projects, meetings and workshops. Mentors peers in their Informatics related professional development.

  • Technology: Promotes highest attainable quality in the use virtual tools and delivery methods. Leads the planning and implementation for new tools and technology. Activities include but are not limited to: assessment, analysis, reporting, piloting, training, engagement and change processes. Leads delivery team in proposing technology changes that support’s leadership strategy, goals and training standards. Monitors customer satisfaction with the use of evaluations, and develops, delivers and measures interventions. Stays current with adult learning mythology, technologies, management and healthcare issues and trends, and legal implications.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 5 years’ experience in a position that had the same or similar primary duties working with a clinical information system within a healthcare setting.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – in education; clinical informatics or equivalent educ/experience

  • 5 years’ experience In addition to the required experience above, three or more of the following experience levels is strongly preferred: Experience with supporting clinician use of an EHR system, with expertise in hospital or ambulatory clinical computer applications (as appropriate for role), especially those used at PH&S. Education or training experience using principles of adult learning in clinical environments. Experience in a clinical field. Project management and Change management and process improvement leadership. One to two years’ experience in training delivery; creating, designing, and writing training materials.
